Cherry and Kirby Come Out Victorious at Kentucky
The team of Ben Cherry Cottontown, Tennessee and Mark Kirby Gallatin, Tennessee won the season opener of the Ram 100% Plus Team Tour event on April 1, 2017 at Kentucky Lake. Cherry and Kirby brought in the winning limit weighing 29.04 pounds with a 6.75 pound kicker to win a new 2017 Triton Boats 17TX with a Mercury 60hp four stroke outboard, Garmin Echomap units, Motorguide trolling motor, and a host of T-H Marine products valued at $20,000.
“We caught our fish using a black and blue jig fishing stumps. It was a great day, we caught fish all day long and was able to cull up to the weight we had,” stated Cherry.
Sterling Pfeifer and Nicholas Hilton finished second with 27.58 pounds and anchoring their bag with a 7.87-pound bass to take home a check for $2,650.
“We caught most of our fish using a jig targeting channel banks and secondary points. We caught fish all day and it was just a great day,” said Pfeifer.
In third place was Roby Allison and Tommy Millraney. They brought in a 26.17-pound bag with a 8.69 pound kicker and took home $1750 for their efforts. They also took home $610 for the big bass as well as $1,200 from the High Stakes Option Pot given them a total of $3,560.
“We caught our fish using a crank bait all day. We culled twice to get our weight. We didn’t catch any fish until around 10:30 this morning and then the sun came out and the fishing picked up for us,” said Allison.
